    • 30 Questions for students in grades 5 and up.

USA MTS - USA Mathematical Talent Search: MIddle and High School Students

    • USA MTS is a free mathematics competition open to all United States middle and high school students.

MATHCOUNTS: Grade 6 ~ 8

    • A national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers.
    • The Competition Series has 4 levels of competition—school, chapter, state and national. Each level of competition is comprised of 4 rounds—Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown Round. Altogether the rounds are designed to take about 3 hours to complete.

Math League: Grade 3 ~ 12

    • The Math League is building student interest and confidence in mathematics through solving worthwhile problems.
    • 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade and and Algebra course 1 contest.
    • Each contest is a 30-minute multiple-choice test.
    • The 4th and 5th grade and Algebra course 1 are non-competitive contests.

Math Competitions for High School Students

    • The American Mathematics Competition (the AMC 10/12) is an exam for high school students.
    • The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examinations in high school mathematics.
    • The AMC 10 is for students in 10th grade and below, and covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade. Students in grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 10.
    • The AMC 12 covers the entire high school curriculum including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry, but excluding calculus. Students in grade 12 or below and under 19.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 12.
    • The AMC 10/12 is the first in a series of competitions that eventually lead all the way to the International Mathematical Olympiad

    • American Regions Math League competition is held in person.
    • Each year, teams of 15 students gather to participate in a team round, a power question, an individual round, two relay rounds, and a super relay.

    • The Caribou Mathematics Competition is a world wide online contest that is held six times throughout the school year.
    • Each of these days, five contests are offered, one for each of the grade levels 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 and each one in English, French and Persian.
    • Each student's ranking in the Caribou Cup is determined by their performance in their best 5 of 6 contests.

    • Organized by Harvard, MIT, and other nearby college students.
    • Teams of students compete in multiple rounds including individual tests, the team round, and the guts round during a weekend long competition held onsite in Boston twice a year.
    • The February competition is one of the most difficult math competitions in the United States for students who can comfortably and confidently solve at least 6 to 8 problems correctly on the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) and write mathematical proofs.

Mandelbrot Competition

    • The Mandelbrot Competition is composed of a short answer format and is delivered in five rounds spread throughout the school year. The contest emphasizes creative mathematical thinking and aims to “engage students with only a modest background while still stretching the most advanced students.” Each round consists of seven short-answer questions that are awarded points based on difficulty.
    • Students from grades 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th

Invitational Competitions:

Invitational competitions are for students who perform exceptionally well on the AMC 10/12. They are invited to continue participating in the AMC series of examinations that culminate with the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

    • This is part of a series of exams by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
    • AIME sequence: AMC 10/12 > AIME > USAMO (United States of America Mathematical Olympiad).
    • Three-hour exam composed of 15 questions. Each answer is an integer number between 0 to 999.
    • Top scoring participants on the AIME are invited to take the USAMO or USAJMO.
    • Students grades 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th with a score of 100 or higher or were in the top 5% on the AMC 12. Or students who scored a 120 or above or were in the top 2.5% on the AMC 10.
    • Recognized national level.

    • USAMO and USAJMO are six question, two day, 9-hour essay/proof examinations.
    • The top scoring AMC 12 participants (based on a combination of AMC 12 and AIME score) are invited to take the USAMO.
    • The top scoring AMC 10 participants (based on a combination of AMC 10 and AIME score) are invited to take the USAJMO.

    • IMO is World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in a different country.
    • The International Mathematical Olympiad Foundation runs is an international competition for high school students which has been running annually since 1959 and now has over 100 countries competing, including all members of the G20.
